Sept 1: Ganesh Chaturti Celebrations
September month was kicked off in style by Ganesh Chaturti celebrations by the staff and students. The students came up with an innovative “Alphabet Ganesha Rangoli”. The cute colouring of our Primary 1 student Rishiraj stole our hearts! Lord Ganesha was worshipped by singing bhajans and offering prayers.
Sept 2: Mobile Shop At Ranga Reddy Gardens
Swayam Mobile shop was conducted in Ranga Reddy gardens, Neelankarai on September 2. There was a good response from the residents and the students were well appreciated for their efforts.
Sept 9: Kiosk At Grundfos
The students set up a Swayam shop at the premises of Grundfos. Apart from the regular grocery items, with the beginning of the festive season, the diyas made by students of Swabodhini were also put up for sale.
Sept 13: Best Teacher Award!
As a part of their teacher’s day celebrations, The Inner Wheel Club of Madras Central recognized the commendable efforts and service of our teacher, Mrs Srikala S towards education of special children.
A very dedicated and committed teacher, Ms Srikala.S is well known for her success in teaching students about activities of daily living, dancing, academics and grooming skills. Her skills in dancing is extra ordinary and she has choreographed almost all our annual day programs. She is capable of making our special children dance on the stage.
She herself being a yoga practitioner, she coordinates yoga therapy for students and she is in charge of implementing the individualized yoga plan for every student.
She uses innovative techniques to train students, particularly using of visual tools through computer based social stories for training the students in life skills and also to modify their mal adaptive behaviors.
During her 16 years of teaching experience she has seen more than 100 students with special needs at various levels.
She is a mother of two cute sons aged 4 and 6.
Sept 15: Field Trip To Dakshin Chitra
Swabodhini had organized a field trip to Dakshin Chitra for its students. It was a day of fun and learning. The students enjoyed the long bus ride to Dakshin Chitra, where they were treated to a jolly ride on bullock cart. The students were also taught the basics of pottery making and clay modelling. They students enjoyed working with their hands and getting them dirty too!
Sept 17: Learn 2016 Seminar
The teachers of Swabodhini participated in a seminar held by Sankalp at Raintree Hotel, Teynampet. The objectives of the seminar were:
Promoting Inclusive Education – to explore the way forward.
Sept 22: Special Children Sports Meet
It was a proud moment for Swabodhini when 15 of our students won prizes at the special children sports meet conducted at Perambur. More than 300 children from various schools in and around Chennai participated and Swabodhini students walked away with podium finish across all categories!
1st Term Progress Review Meet:
End of 1st term Progress review meet was held from 19th to 29th September to review the progress seen in the students. The reports prepared are shared with the parents and the issues discussed
