Group Communication
Communication is a major challenge for most children in the ASD. Many students might perform better in a group rather than on one to one sessions due to group stimulation.
Group therapy is provided in a format where there is typically one therapist and six to twelve participants with related problems. People in group therapy improve not only from the interventions of the therapist, but also from observing others in the group and receiving feedback from group members. The group format, has several advantages.
The advantages of group therapy include Modelling, improved social skills, etc. Specific common themes are selected and broken down to micro level activities. Simulated set ups are made for modelling the situation and role modelling is done for the characters of the situation. These sessions coupled with experiential learning sessions help the student understand the concepts better.
