Foreword

Warm greetings from Swabodhini!

January brought a wave of joy as students returned to school after the winter break, ready to embark on the third term. Our teachers and therapists set new goals and began preparations for the much-anticipated Annual Day celebrations in March.

We are delighted to announce that Swabodhini has signed an MoU with the Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation (TNSDC) to offer four vocational courses for young adults with special needs:

  • Data Entry
  • Office Administration
  • Bakery Products
  • Retail Store Operations

To ensure effective implementation, we conducted an orientation workshop for our staff on TNSDC courses, therapy techniques, and the role of music in learning and development.

Republic Day was a proud moment for our students from the Tondiarpet branch, who performed a skit on Road Safety at Babu Jagjivan Ram Sports Complex. Their performance received a standing ovation from the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson, a testament to their hard work and dedication.

We were also pleased to host students and staff from APL Global School at our Velachery vocational centre, where they interacted with our students and learned about our initiatives.

The month was filled with festivities across all four centres, including Pongal celebrations, Helpers’ Day, and birthday celebrations, making it a joyful and memorable time for our students and staff.

Looking forward to sharing more updates with you next month!

Best Regards,

On January 4th, a comprehensive workshop was conducted at a common venue, bringing together staff from all four centres for an enriching learning experience. The session covered key topics, including the TNSDC course, therapy techniques, and the perception of music in education.

Ms. Anita (Centre Head, Velachery and Selaiyur) provided valuable insights into the TNSDC course to be conducted across all centres. Ms. Sowmiya (Centre Head, Thiruvanmiyur and Tondiarpet) led an informative session on therapy techniques, equipping staff with effective approaches to support children. Additionally, Ms. Nandini Priyakumari (Director) shared her expertise on the role of music in learning and development, highlighting its benefits for both children and educators.

The workshop served as a wonderful opportunity for all staff members to come together, exchange knowledge, and strengthen collaboration. It was a highly engaging and insightful session, leaving everyone with a sense of enrichment and unity.
