December 2023 Newsletter
Foreword
Greetings from Swabodhini!
The month of December started with heavy floods and holidays declared by the Government. After the classes resumed, our children attended school with great enthusiasm despite the heavy downpour and water logging.
As part of the celebrations to commemorate Swabodhini’s 35 years of service to children with Autism and related challenges, NGOs working in the related field were invited to share their experiences and success stories. The first phase of this event had 5 organisations presenting their success stories – V-Excel Educational Trust, Anandam Trust, ESVI Sarada Foundation, Sri Arunodayam Charitable Trust and Avvai Kaapagam.
Mr. Venkatesawaran, our donor from HongKong visited our Thiruvanmiyur campus and interacted with our children.
We had Christmas and Birthday celebrations on the last working day of the second term. The staff and children bid Goodbye to each other and the year 2023, heralding the New Year 2024.
Wishing you all a very Happy and Prosperous New Year 2024.
Best Regards,
Ms Nandini Priyakumari Principal
Swabodhini School and Vocational Center for Special Children
Workshop for staffs
Our principal, Ms. Nandini Priyakumari, led an engaging “Communication” session on December 16th. Staff from all the three centres took part in the workshop. We learnt about the various forms and styles of communication during this highly informative session. Staff were also taught to bake cookies and make chocolates.

Christmas Celebrations
We had a wonderful Christmas celebration on December 22nd at all the three centres . All students performed a variety of items such as dancing, singing, and keyboard playing depicting the birth of Lord Jesus Christ.
At Velachery Centre the faculty and students of Guru Nanak College’s postgraduate department of social work also joined the celebrations and performed puppet shows, sang a song, and entertained with a Santa dance.
The decorations were wonderful and the overall atmosphere was charged with much energy and enthusiasm at Tondiarpet Centre.
Birthday Celebrations
Since the school is closed for the Christmas holidays, we celebrated the birthdays of the staff and students on 22nd for this month.
